This Artist’s Impression Of Andhra Pradesh’s New Capital Is An Image Of The Rising India!

Sky scrapers, proper drainage system, renewable energy sources, hi-tech facilities, and a well planned city, I am not talking about a place from the west. This is what probably Amravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, will be all about in the coming few years.

Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, shared an artist’s impression of the city Amravati on twitter, and said it will be ready by the year 2050. If the impression turns into reality, then Amravati will be at par or even ahead of the most developed cities of USA and Dubai.

The city will not only be a great place to live, but is also expected to generate 7 lakh job opportunities for its residents. The city will be built near Krishna River, in between two other promising cities of the state, Vijayawada and Guntur.

Till now, the government has received two blue prints of the city. The first one, i.e. Phase-I, covers an area of 7,235 sq km, and Phase-II covers an area of 125 sq km.

Two township developer companies from Singapore have shown great interest in building this dream project, namely, Sembcorp Development and Ascendas-Singbridge.

Manohar Khiatani, Deputy Chief Executive of Ascendas –Singbridge was quoted by The Straits Times,

We will study the master plan… when it is available, to identify areas where we could potentially participate in and contribute our expertise in urban development.

This huge step by the state government deserves recognition and a huge round of applause. When we talk about India moving forward, this is the kind of image we have in our minds. A village like Amravati is what we have always longed for.

When we do not hesitate in criticizing the poor condition of slums in our country, then we should also not be sceptic to show the picture of modern and developing India. Only after cities like these are built and other social problems of the country are solved, we can shift gears from being a developing nation to a developed nation.

Other state governments can also take a lesson or two from this project, and try to improvise with whatever they have. It will be unfair to compare the situation of Amravati with other capital cities, as Amravati is going to be made from scratch, and that is not the case with others. But there is always a scope to improve, and that is what should be the focal point.

Amravati has still a long way to go, and there will be a lot of changes made by the time the project gets completed. But we can definitely pin our hopes on it, and for now, let’s celebrate the picture of the rising India.
