Are we really evolving or just trying to pretend that we are?

“A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.”

This is a quote from Darwin’s book “The origin of species”. We definitely are evolving (Well, there are people opposing that too). But are we really evolving into a better or an intelligent form? As far as Indian mentality is concerned, it just does not sound right.

“To my understanding, consumption of fast food contributes to such incidents (rape). Chowmein leads to hormonal imbalance evoking an urge to indulge in such acts.”- This statement was given by a Haryana Khap Panchayat Leader. The cause of rape is not desperate men but chowmein. He must really get an I.Q test. I am sure he is another Einstein in making.

This is one of the examples showcasing the intelligence of common mass. There are many others to build up a stack to fill up a new book contradicting Darwin that we are not actually evolving. Where does the actual problem lie? Why are we forced to make such stupid statements and linger on to our beliefs and even kill for it.

Ironically, the answer to this lies in evolution. Our inherent nature lies in the ease of work we perform. With the passage of time, people developed skills to perform any task and after some time, they mastered the art of it. This information has always been passed on the successors for their ease to perform the same task. So, We are actually following orders not make our own path. This has eventually led to process-oriented mind rather than thinking-oriented. We do not think. We reinact the past. Some of us are able to create new stuff and that showcases our development index but the rest of us are puppets.

And the result is illogical thinking. We are forced to think what we have been told before which may/may not be right. People cling on to that and we keep on doing the same mistakes all over again. Protests over religion, unequal rights to LGBT community, casteism are the outcomes we can see in our daily life.

Belaboring the obvious is very easy but where is the answer! The answer itself lies in our critical thinking. It’s high time we start to think on our own rather than following the conventions set by our ancestors. Make your own decisions, think on your own. Evolve.
