We frequently see girls or women asking each other- “What do you think of Sunny Leone?”
Here are some of the reactions –
-“I like Sunny Leone because she does not fake anything unlike other actresses. She is cute, smart, intelligent, kind hearted, beautiful and successful.”
-“She is not shy of what other talks behind her back and I guess that’s a nice quality which people should learn from her.”
-“Sunny Leone is not a porn actress. She was. Now she is someone who has moved on in her life, moved on from acting in adult movies to Indian TV and Bollywood”
Mostly, if we look around, we can see people may have different opinions about different actors/actresses they come across. But, there the question arises in a controversial way, when you point out somebody’s act to be a “Filthy and Obnoxious” one!
Yes, one such ‘respectful’ deviant is this senior CPI leader Atul Anjan who readily blamed the actress and denoted her to be the chief source or cause of increasing ‘Rapes’ in India. Seriously? People still retain such kind of mentality? What can we even say or comment regarding such perverts around? If they inherit such mindset within them, then who is going to change their outlook? Will it be ever possible? Is it even coherent that a political leader is creating such commotions around? The answer is, somewhere linked to a big ‘No’!
In a two-day national executive meeting held at New Delhi, Mr. Atul Anjan had all these constituents to add an essence to his rousing speech – “She’s seen lying down with a man. The dirty ad talks about having it all day and night. This develops sexuality and puts an end to sensibility. If such ads are constantly aired on television, then rape cases will rise. We need to stop it my friends.” (Source – Mensxp.com)
People from different backgrounds expressed their huge grievances against all these commentaries. Things did not go too well with Atul Anjan as he had to face lots of dilemmas from various people around who stood up for Sunny Leone. The outflow of reactions was devastating as people facing this kind of cheap allegations earlier, came upon effective speculations.
Here are some of the reactions from people in the industry:
“The only thing responsible for a woman’s rape is the man. Not mobile phones, ads, porn, item number, short skirts or education. We are responsible for our actions and this blame game is simply ridiculous! My Kamasutra ad created what British tabloids had heralded as the beginning of the sexual revolution in India and it won multiple advertising awards. The obvious agenda for any condom campaign is to entice people into safe sex.” – Pooja Bedi in DNAIndia.
Dia Mirza expressed in DNA India that, “It’s yet another classic example of trying to foster a society that shies away from any kind of sex education (saying a condom ad will cause rape!) thereby leading to more incidents of sexual crimes. I really don’t even want to waste my energy on commenting on such remarks or for such people. Statements like these are just a reflection of an individual’s ignorance. A condom ad is an ad for safe sex. To say it causes rape is ridiculous.”
“Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I have no comments to offer on what Shri Anjan said, but I do admit that many find it very embarrassing to watch ads of similar nature in the presence of family and kids.”- Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Urban Development in DNA India.
Sophie Choudry in DNA India opines that, “What causes rape is the lack of education in our country and the fact that young boys are not taught to respect girls as equals from a young age. Blaming movies, actresses, condom ads. The clothes a woman wears are all just scapegoats. The fact is the majority of men in this country lack respect for women, enjoy living in a patriarchal world and think it’s okay to treat women however they want.”
Raveena Tandot Thandani mentions in DNA India that, “I haven’t seen the ad to comment on it. But I heard the politician has apologised for his statement, though apparently he still doesn’t agree with the content of the racy ad. Speaking for myself, as a mother of growing children, I’d definitely not like over-the-top ads floating around on prime time. As per censorship rules, these can be shown after 11 pm.”
Hence, gaining no such culmination, he however had to apologise on Thursday for his misdemeanour, and eventually had to flip through his despicable comments.
He stated that, “Supporters of porn and Sunny Leone are raising objections. I apologise, but I don’t stand for such ads, Ads should be sober, Sunny Leone’s ads are vulgar. I am not anti-condom, but the language used in the ad is not right.”
CPI ultimately had to denounce party leader Atul Anjan’s comment regarding her, as he clearly blamed Sunny Leone and the specific brand for the soaring rape revelations in India. Now, the situations created are so atrocious for each one of us, just because of these weirdo political leaders who have got nothing to estimate other than blurting about absurdity.
It’s like, when will they understand that there is other reason for rape, other than the anomalous and aberrant rapists. Personally, I feel they should not point out or blame someone openly for any disputes happening around, their main concern should focus on the different graving issues. The politicians should focus more on political aspects of the country rather than Sunny Leone!
