Jasmeet Wanted To Be A Mechanical Engg, But Shockingly This Is Why He Became A Motor Mechanic!

“I am Jasmeet singh, a 28 years old man, who has accepted my life as a struggle. I am a hearing-impaired person yet a hard worker. With perseverance and determination, I was able to acquire a job as a motor mechanic. Isn’t it ridiculous that I have to accept a job that is only a tiny bit related to the field I actually want to pursue?

My aim in life was to become a mechanical engineer once but due to lack of support and education, I was stuck being a motor mechanic.

But that wasn’t the only thing that has gone wrong in my life. Though I was giving 100 % at my job but still my fellow colleagues use my disability as something they can amuse themselves with from time to time; I was not only paid less for my work but was also assaulted by my co-workers. I could not complain to anyone because no would care to understand my special language. My colleagues would sometimes steal half of my salary or they would blame their irresponsible behavior on me when encountered by supervisors.

Just imagine after working for one complete month, you don’t even get to have your salary? How does it feel?

It would be wrong to say that only hearing impaired people have all the problems in the world. Some of you might even think that we use our disability as weapons. It is true that life hits each one of us with a brick once in a while. But unlike you, we are not adding fuel to your problems. We aren’t scared to accept the challenges of life. The only thing we seek from you is patience; in the name of humanity. And even that is not mandatory, but trying to demean our self -esteem is completely wrong on your part.”

Jasmeet is now an active member of Sounds of Silence where he has earned the courage to start his life from the scratch. When he came to SOS, he showed his interest to learn computer in this modern era. We did not want him to give up once again on his dreams and, thus, we started teaching him computer. To our amazement, he had an incredible ability to grasp, and now, he is working in the SEO department of a reputed company.

With every rupee that you’ll contribute, we’ll be able to reach and educate more hearing impaired kids.
