Dear Mr. Rahul Gandhi Ji,
Warmest regards.
Sir, I am a young businessman and an aspiring entrepreneur of India. Today, I am writing to you in capacity of a Samaritan of India who is incredibly concerned about the brand of politics being executed by all concerned, and your party in particular, which at the least, is singularly focused towards destroying the remaining fabric of the Indian society.
Firstly, may I humbly enquire as to why you are fervently propagating the folly that rich people are in fact arch enemies of the poor? Do you sincerely believe that to be the truth? If yes, are you not rich yourself? By that logic, therefore, you are amongst the greatest enemies of the poor of our nation.
While I do not intend to imply that the employer class of India, that you are trying to obliterate, works solely for upliftment of the underprivileged, but it remains a fact that an employer is necessary for there to be employees. I understand, sir, that you personally, and your party in particular, has never believed in the idea of self-sustenance. Yet, I am confident you will agree that creation of jobs, industrial growth and commercial growth are pertinent for economic growth.
Sir, let me conclusively assert upon you the point that business class is not the enemy of the poor but the pillar thereof. I hope you will introspect. Atleast you did believe it firmly while giving out freebies of coal mines and telecom spectrum to a select few of the country. I am certain you had thought this would create a lot of jobs in the near future and lead to social growth of India.
Historically, India has been divided by the hundreds of thousands of different castes and communities residing in our great secular nation. Politics and politicians have used these shards to their benefits since independence. Initially, and with a focused aim to destabilize our nation, the Englishmen divided our country into Hindus and Muslims just before granting independence to us. Thereafter, the political class, apparently much more adept than the said Englishmen, sub-divided and then further nucleated our society into the smallest castes and communities over a period of 60 glorious years. But alas! Life does go around in circles. For the first time, after 60+ years we witnessed reconstruction…..consolidation if you may. The nation decided, and not because of any single party and/or leader, but by its own choice, to reverse this cycle of fragmentation. Hindu vote-bank consolidation, as it is sensationally termed by the media, led to a stable government in the country after decades. Believe it or not, this is good for our country. The next step in this cycle of reversal, by simple logic, is consolidation of religions and, for the first time since the struggle for independence creation of an UNITED INDIA.
For Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and every other religious fragment that calls India home, this is a victory of an unprecedented nature. Only for you, however, this was a loss of epic proportions. Naturally, therefore, you will create a holler against it. I understand that. The nation understands that.
Now, having lost the battle of dividing India on the basis of caste, the opposition on the whole (and not only your party, sir) has come forth with a new gimmick. A self-serving albeit explosively devastative strategy to divide India on the basis of class. Sir, you are deliberately pitting the rich against the poor, the employer against the employee and the benefactor against the beneficiary. Please don’t do this sir. Regardless of all the allegations or the premonitions I may deliver, I truly do believe that the Gandhi family has played the single most important role in India’s ascension from a third-world country to a potential superpower (that it has been done at the cost of social disintegration is a different matter). Therefore, as an Indian, as a businessman and as an aspiring young entrepreneur of our country, I request you not to bleak my future in the shadows of class-division. I love my employees, and they love me. Do not create hatred amongst us.
Sir, the truth is that the poor do not feed their children on basis of what the government gives them out as subsidies. That is just not enough, it can never be enough. Their livelihood depends upon what they earn from their own hard-work. Their livelihood depends upon creation of jobs in the economy and upon their credibility as a loyal and hardworking employee of a concerned employer. I run a business, and through all the various turmoil of it, I try my level best to support my employees and laborers AND their families whenever required. I like to think of myself as their greatest friend and well-wisher. Why then, are you trying to impose otherwise? Who gave you that right? Our constitution certainly did not.
I know of many such financially-stable (also rich, if you may call them so) people who are involving themselves in activities related to upliftment of the under-privilege, of providing them protection and education. I am personally involved with a small organization that provides free education to about 30 girls and boys whose family could otherwise not afford good education. I see them smile and that, sir, is the greatest victory of my life. I am a good man. Please don’t propagate that I am the enemy.
I request you, INDIA WARNS YOU.
My last bit is for all god-fearing Samaritans of our great country. Do not be disillusioned. I know of a hundred poor people I can call friends. Some of you will know two and some two thousand. Please guide them, support them, teach them and learn from them. Do not let them step in this murk being deliberately created in the direction of dividing us through the latest mechanism of Class Division. That will be the end of us, all 125 crores of us, rich or poor not withstanding.
Thanking you.
With regards,
A Terrified Citizen
