We often criticize Bollywood for making stupid cinema which makes no sense at all (which is true to a great extent). No brainers like ‘Rascals’ and ‘Housefull’ have always been a disgrace to the Indian film industry.
But things are changing.
The latest edition to that change being the upcoming movie by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Manjhi. This movie is based on the true story of Dashrath Manjhi, popularly known as the Mountain Man. He moved a mountain all by himself to solve the problem of his villagers. It took him almost 22 years to do so. He was a real life hero and an inspiration to many.
Movies are the biggest medium to reach out to people, and ‘Manjhi’ will be a great way to give tribute to one of our unsung heroes and act as an inspiration for others. After all, everyone should know what this great man did and how he did it.
If Bollywood starts taking up projects like these, then not only will the face of our cinema change, but also these heroes will get the recognition which they really deserve.
India has seen many strong personalities like Dashrath Manjhi, who have done extraordinary things for the society. People like Chewang Norphel, Jadav Payeng and Palam Kalyanasundram, have pushed their limits to a complete new level to serve the mankind. And still hardly anyone is familiar with their names. These are true heroes who worked immensely hard, without expecting anything in return.
The trailer of ‘Manjhi’ gives hope, that there are better things to come for Indian cinema. There is still some time before the movie gets released, but it has already started making the heads turn. And why not, after all he was the man who made the mountain succumb in front of his mighty will.
