“Let’s build a world, and sing one song,
Let’s build a place, where WE belong.”
-Sonakshi Nathak (My poet friend)
Jan 12 was 153rd birth anniversary of the great visionary Swami Vivekananda. If we would have people like him now, India would have been shining bright all over the world. The reason would be his views on preservation of our diverse culture. According to him, religion is the manifestation of the Divinity already in man. He also told that, religion is the idea which raises the brute unto man, and man unto God.
Nowadays, it has become very rare to see people with knowledge and wisdom of such caliber.
When I see all the riots and protests happening all over our country as well as the entire world, it reminds me of one of my hostel friend’s talk about our soul. She must have read somewhere that our soul is naïve at first but with each birth, it gains knowledge and wisdom, and will not attain moksha till it gains full wisdom.
No wonder all the riot monger politicians are not going to attain moksha any sooner.
Religion was made by the people, for the people like a constitution – A set of rules to be followed by each one.
But, should it be that way?
Should it be anything other than a medium to connect with ultimate power and gain peace?
Every religion has some positive and negative aspects. But it does not define the people following it.
Right from the birth, one is made to follow a religion –
What that poor little child does not know is that one day in future, there will be some section of society which will hate him/her because of that ‘tag’.
– Without knowing the actual person he/she is.
– Not giving a damn about what his/her views are.
-Unaware of the fact that ‘karma’ is the only religion he/she follows and the ‘tag’ is just a ‘tag’ for him/her.
But, they will discard his views, saying that he’s too naïve to understand all this. What they don’t realize is how naïve their soul is, that they define a person by his/her religion. They maybe intellectuals and might have travelled the world, but alas – their thinking!!
Only if the world would be perfect-
- Religion would serve only one purpose- to connect to our soul and thus make us a better person.
- People of every religion would love and respect people of other religions as their own.
- Every child should be given basic knowledge of every religion till adolescence and then have the right to take up any religion as per their wish.
Only then would words like religious intolerance, promulgated by the so-called dharmgurus (who have the license to harm in the name of religion) and politicians (who use every riots and debates for their vote bank), would mean nothing to people like us. Also no more tragic riots like that of Malda (WB), Muzaffarnagar (U.P.), etc will happen.
Come on people, just use your logical minds and mind your own businesses. Love your religion and other’s too. There are more important issues to talk about and fight over than sulking over the shortcomings of other religions on Facebook and Twitter and rioting over the dictate of each of your religious heads and politicians.
Make this world a better place to live.
“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature,
the heart of a heartless world,
and the soul of soulless conditions.
It is the opium of the people.”
-Karl Max
Choose your opium wisely. Don’t let it poison you or others.
