Lessons learnt from the most loved Idiots ever!!

Though Bollywood movies are known for their melodrama, goofy comic relief props and loud music, there are always exceptions to this rule. There have been movies which have managed to make a mark and touch all chords and leaving audience craving for more. We are living in an age where we are constantly bombarded with information left, right and center; and it’s not astonishing that we tend to forget most of it. Presentations that poke us, move us and change us are a success and etched on our minds for good.

One such effort which moved mountains and managed to touch our hearts crushing all barriers of caste, creed, color, prejudices; was the 2009 released movie 3 Idiots! It never fails to astonish me, each time I watch it, and gives a fresh new insight to our ingrained orthodox schools of thought.

Insight-

Movie was an eye-opener in many ways. It exposed harsh realities of our educational system and constant performance pressure our students are coping up with. However, the message the movie carried was the silver lining, let’s quickly sum them up-

Be brilliant in whatever you undertake, world always will be in need of wizards-Today’s youth is fortunate to be living in a very opportune time where we can make careers with just about anything. Doctors, Engineers and other routine careers are now passé and niche careers are capturing market and money. For those who are unbeatable in their game, there’s no dearth of takers. Do not fall prey to rat race of careers choices. If you discover your niche, polish it and make it better than what your competition is offering. Make your passion your job and don’t let the world intimidate you into believing otherwise.

Have an unquenchable thirst to learn-To learn is to grow. No matter who, no matter where, has no other choice but to keep on adding on to his experiences to keep getting more competitive with time. World has so much to offer and there’s never really an end to the learning process. The day we feel we are done, we are actually done!

Score in your academics is important, it’s not a show-stopper- Our system cons us to believe in scores and marks, who’s on top and who’s better. Beyond a certain point in life, it’s how well we apply our knowledge is what counts and not those distinctions we scored on a certain report card.

Choose to stay honest to yourself even if the whole world threatens to disown you-Unless we are honest to ourselves, we can never have peace of mind and soul. Things done to please others can only take us that far. World is done with shady dealers and end of the day all of us appreciate strong people with intact characters.

And, finally, no single moment is larger than life; don’t give up on life for anything! The present student-suicide trend is both alarming and disturbing. Parents and teachers have to step in here and ease off their children. Our youth needs to be strong and unmoved by slight hiccups that life presents to everyone. While academics are important, they in no way are a passport to success. So take it easy and as our Idiots say ‘All is well’

 Afterword-

It’s all about perspective, perspective and perspective!  Our mind is supreme and very powerful! If we don’t change, we’ll perish! There is always a room for improvement and it’s high time we care to make this world happier. We don’t need to have obscene amounts of money to be happy but we rather invest in pursuing our passions. We need to introspect and figure out what makes us really satiated and that will play a catalyst in our quest for intrinsic peace and tranquility. If you feel you are stuck at a wrong place….

Start now!!!  Life is too short…Live your passion!!!
