Yet another horrific incident of barbary surfaced up in a gay nightclub at Orlando, Florida in the United States of America on June 12, 2016. The shooter is convicted of killing at least 50 people, injuring more than 53 others. The act is being termed as either a terrorist act or a hate crime or a combination of both. However, no reason justifies the massacre. It is so far the most perilous incident in America conducted by a single person and the plight of the carnage is being paralleled to that of the attacks of 9/11.
The incident has once again manifested the unbridled hatred sprouting in the hearts of pusillanimous and murky individuals who fail in their own lives. Therefore, these cowards set out to snatch the peace of innocent people to please their failure.
It is said that the shooter was a New York-born Florida resident and US native citizen named Omar Seddique Mateen. He was the son of immigrants from Afghanistan. Apparently he was a psychopath, having almost no friends, no social life, and had left behind a trail of domestic violence and radical Islamist sympathies. His wife described him as having a violent temper and said that he was emotionally disturbed. She herself was a victim of domestic violence at his hands.
It is really astonishing to digest the fact that the idiocy and whim of some ‘psycho sociopath’ can set so many lives on havoc and yet the government has no means to prevent such an act. Yes, there are reasons which make this incident unavoidable, rather inevitable.
The first reason why the entire plan could not be tracked and spoiled was that the counter-terrorism strategies of the governments depend a lot on the terrorist communication activities but when there is just a single person involved, he becomes almost invisible to the agencies and is hard to be tracked. Such attacks have no defined patterns hence are abrupt and difficult to be countered. In this case, the convict had twice been questioned by FBI agents in past 2 years, but to our dismay they did not find him a threat to the society.
The second reason is the flourishing of the whole ideology of radical Islamist thoughts. Ronald Hopper, the FBI’s assistant special agent said that Omar himself ringed up 911 the next morning and stated his allegiance to the leader of the Islamist State. The choice of the gay nightclub shows the attacker’s own biases and no direct involvement of extremist organisations were seen. However, institutions which spread sinister beliefs under the tag of religion are always to be blamed. The very ideology that they spread, the very thought process that they implant in humans is in itself an act of terror and has definitely been instrumental is provoking such orthodox feelings in Omar and more such people across the world.
The third potential reason for the attack is the lax gun-control laws of the US which protect people rights to keep and bear arms. This further makes such activities unstoppable.
This was one sordid incident but now since people across the globe these days are more ‘inspired’ by the negative acts than the positive, scores may be expected to follow.
Also, what is appalling in this hour of crisis is the dirty political blame game which is being played in US. Those who are readily blaming Islam and Muslims for the havoc should better know the fact that the Muslim fraternity is open heartedly coming forward to donate blood to the Orlando victims despite the holy month of Ramzan, when they fast and neither eat nor drink.

Terrorism actually has nothing to do with any religion.
It is driven by an ideology, which is being spread under the tag of religion.
If we wish to curb terrorism, we need to uproot the very ideology else many such alarming incidents would be inevitable!
