Repairs and rehabilitation work after Cyclone FANI

Extremely severe Cyclone Fani has impacted the lives of millions in the Indian State of Odisha including children. It was the strongest tropical cyclone to hit the state for many years.

10 million people have been affected across almost 15,000 villages, water sources have been infected, over 5,000 school buildings have been damaged and over 1,000 health facilities have been disrupted.

The situation is grim for the people of Odisha, especially rural people, children, boys and girls alike, who are more vulnerable to disease, malnutrition and neglect.

Repairs and rehabilitation work after Cyclone Fani needs to be done quickly owing to the upcoming monsoon season. After the initial relief announced by the government, the rehabilitation should take not less than six months to one year.

Shivprabha  Chritable Trust has decided to support 2 villages i.e. Karimpur and Barakudi Village of Brahmagiri block of Puri District with 300 families. They need desperate help as no one has reached them except RSS. Specific Requirement Solar lantern, Tarpaulin and Medical Kits, being power restoration work may take couple of more months in said area, houses are damaged and need temporary shelter by Tarpaulin sheet and medical support kit.

RFI is  working  together and  calling for contribution towards the  below items, so that every rural person in Odisha is able to recover from the horrors of Cyclone Fani.

Tarpaulin Sheet @Rs. 500 Rs 1,50,000
Solar Lamp @Rs. 450 Rs 1,35,000
Medicine Kit @ Rs. 200 Rs 60,000

Total Funds need Rs 3,45,000

Now it is our duty to bring back parts of Odisha into routine and help our brother’s and sister’s live comfortably on their own land again.

They have already collected 44 K and need additional Rs. 301K to support these 2 village’s in their path of rehabilitation.

Editors Note

A week after Cyclone Fani battered Odisha, survivors reel under shortages of food, water and power. In all, 1.5 crore people in 159 blocks of 14 districts have been affected. But the government is struggling to assess the extent of the damage. It is our duty to contribute towards the rehabilitation.
