She Is Hungry And Skinny, And Makes World’s Yummiest Cupcakes. Even Her Dream Is Mouth Watering!

“Have you ever just been drawn toward one thing, with no explanation why? I was always drawn toward the dessert menu, and the baking section of every cookery show, the cookbook section of every book store. It’s just one of those things that I took an interest in, and unlike the other 100 things on that list, my interest in this just never stopped”.

It needs some courage man!

You’ll need to have some good audacity to do what this girl is doing.

So, when I first met Dishari, I used to see her carry a big tiffin box to college, almost every day. Her friends would not stop licking their fingers, I could smell the amazing essence and all I could do was, STARE at that delicious pieces her friends used to have. That was 2013.

2015, January, Dishari sends me a link to her page and I had this giant smile on my face when I learned that she is going official with her mammoth skills. Now all of you reading this must be wondering what I am really talking about!

B A K E R Y!

Yes, Dishari, 21, is basically a Baker who can bake anything you have ever wished for and I think she has already set a cogent example for our campaign which is dealing with Unconventional Career Options. I am not going to jabber too much because it’s difficult for me to explain the jubilation I go through whenever I think of Cupcakes, Candies, Cookies, Cakes, etc, baked by her. I’ll directly jump into our conversation we had about her venture and how she plans to take it forward.

I have always wondered what made her choose Baking over so many other options and why! I mean, dude, it takes a lot of patience and courage and planning to choose Baking over highly paid career options. So, I asked her what made her realize that this is the hobby she would turn into a career option for herself and change the old school ideas for the future. “I started in January this year. I had been unofficially baking for my friends and their families for over a year, and everyone had encouraged me to take this forward and set up something formal. Despite always being told the nicest things, I was always hesitant, but I was going through a bad phase, and I needed something to hold on to. That’s when I decided that this was it”. Dishari, a true delhite who lives in Calcutta, studying International Relations in Jadavpur University, is a great GREAT challenge to India when we speak of Taboos and Stereotypes and how the Indian parents react to such career options. Without disrespecting views and being non judgemental she says, ”Mine still do! It’s a little difficult when it comes to parents in India, and they’re mostly right with their statistics and all that, but you need to find a way to explain to them that for money to come in heaps, happiness from working needs to come first”.

zomato ratingsAlso, Dishari is the first baker I know who doesn’t have a fixed menu for her Company. You tell her what you want, or what you wish to have, she will research and make you the yummiest cupcakes everrrrrrr! “I have no idea! Sometimes they come to me in my sleep and somehow strike me again at some point in the day, and sometimes my clients help me come up with the weirdest [but yum!] things, and sometimes, it’s just random ideas that sound good in my head”, said Dishari when I asked her about how she discovers new ideas and new flavours. She is so unique that you’ll not believe me she bakes Rum Cupcakes, Chocolate Ganache with Strawberry Tart, Scooby Doo Cupcakes, Brownie sticks with Rum Butter cream, Candid Bacon Cupcakes, Red Velvets, etc. Her Zomato rates are right now the highest and she is doing phenomenal but she has bigger dreams and as a friend, I can vouch for her dreams because she works hard for them to come true!

“I think my dream is to have an entire H&S building, where one floor is a dessert book shop, one floor is a cooking studio and one floor is a cupcake cafe! But I have a long way to go before that happens and a lot to learn”. Oh, did I tell you what her company’s name is? Now this has too many stories because a lot of people had turned against her for they didn’t like it because it hurt their ego or feminist views but here’s what she has to say,”

I firmly believe that if you have to do well, you have to love yourself first. So I decided that I’m going to name my company after me! Since people keep commenting about how much I eat and how I never get fat, Hungry&Skinny was catchy and apt”! Yes. Hungry&Skinny is THE name that’s breaking all records at the moment.

She is everywhere, in fests, newspapers, corporate parties, gigs, etc. Having said that, I asked DIshari if life is better because baking doesn’t help one earn truckloads of money, I mean, she has just started. You know what I love about us, the young blood? For us, money is NOT primary and Happiness isn’t secondary. We believe in satisfaction and Peace than a wallet full of money. “It’s fine. Like I said before, for money to come, happiness needs to come first. The look on my clients’ faces whenever they appreciate something I made from scratch gives me the kind of satisfaction that I don’t get from money. Yeah money is good, very good, but this is priceless”. You know this is what keeps all of us going! People like Dishari are hard to find. Creativity is common, but creativity that’s extraordinary and unbelievable.

India today is envisioning such talents which are too hot to handle. It’s time we leave aside the mask of 9 to 5 and experience what life actually is! I believe talents speak louder than degrees and that is when you become a name. Dishari’s journey hasn’t been easy. She had to answer too many people, convince her parents, experiment, she failed, she tried, succeeded. But D (that’s what we call her) fought against all the odds, and hence, she is a name, already! So, if you are looking forward to do something like this, GO AHEAD – DONT HESITATE – BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

Oh hey! D has a message for all of you 🙂

“There’s a WORLD of things that are so amazing, and you literally need nothing to start. But it’s important that you to take the first big step and never look back. Once you’ve done that, you’ll figure everything else out. It’s the first step that takes all the courage, after that it’s a fairly easy journey”.
