An open letter to Taliban

My dear Taliban friends,

How’re you all doing? I am sure that the celebration is still going on. Your latest effort of spreading terror worldwide was a huge success.

I heard you stay at remote places, so no one catches you. Do you have access to newspapers or television? If yes, I am sure its adding to the fun. Those parents, who just lost their children, have turned numb. 16 more children, who were injured, have died. Those who managed to escape and stay alive will be haunted by this horrific image of death till the last breathe they take. Children who saw this on TV, have hugged their moms and asked “Mummy, kyun mar rahe hai sabko?” Dear Taliban friends, can you please answer this innocent kid?

Do you remember Sohaila? You convicted her. She was publicly flogged and received 100 lashes, because she walked on the road with a man who wasn’t her relative.  Remember February 1998, Kabul? You forced all windows of every house to be painted black so that no woman could be visible from outside. Remember June 2012? You banned Polio vaccinations in North Waziristan of Pakistan. You thought the UN polio workers were spies. You killed four of them in December that year.

No no. I am not collecting instances of your brutality. Because that’s endless. I am just trying hard to find an answer. The entire world is looking for that particular answer right now. Is this the way you want to rule the world? I mean, you want to murder, and still be obeyed?

Dear Taliban friends, do you remember your childhood? Yes, you too had one. You had a mom, a dad, may be a brother or a sister. There was a shafiq inside you, who loved his red football more than anything. There was a Kamal inside you who was a champion Cricketer in the Mahalla. There was  a Hasan inside you, who used to carry food to the field where his dad worked; at the end of the day, they would come home together, holding hands.  There was an Aamir inside you, who couldn’t sleep without hugging his mom tight. There was a Musqaan, your little sister; who would always save the first bite of candy for you. Or may be, there was a Shaqib, your elder brother; who every time lost the kite running competition intentionally, just because he loved to see you jumping with joy when you won. You think you have killed a Shafiq, a Kamal, a Hasan, an Aamir, a Musqaan, or a Shaqib? Hell no! You’ve killed yourselves. Your conscience. The little bit of humanity that existed inside you.

Ask yourselves, what scared you about those children? May be those innocent eyes, because they’re exactly like mirrors and you couldn’t just look at them! Their laughter, because that sounded powerful than the sound of bombing? Their voices, because they could rejuvenate the souls inside you that you’ve almost killed? Or may be, they scared you because they didn’t know what does the term “Taliban” mean! They would come to you, call you ‘uncle’ hold your hands and ask for a candy. How could you bear that? They made you recall a life you’ve left far behind, or a kind of life you should have led. I wonder how terrible that feeling could ever be! So you chose to run away. Brave men like you who’ve committed thousands of murders, bombed so many buildings, shot so many people, tortured so many women, attacked so many innocent souls, chose to run away from that horrifying feeling. Chose to shut those kids up. & therefore, you killed them. Ask yourselves. Are you actually brave? I doubt!

Our minds are fuming. You passed a chill through our spines, and now there’s fire inside our hearts. Instead of futile tears, there’s boiling blood now. Instead of loud protests, silent determination is rising up.  Dear Taliban friends, put a halt to your celebrations now! Don’t forget, there was also a brave lady, the principal of Army School Peshwar, who denied to escape and leave her students to beasts. How many will you burn alive? You don’t know, she’s hundred. Thousand. Million. Don’t forget, There’s also a Malala Yousafzai who has defeated all your threats and stood up for her own rights. You, and only you, have kindled this fire inside the world’s humans. & now, this fire is going to burn you alive. To you, my dear Taliban friends,  Goodwill and humanity have always beaten the demons who destruct and slaughter and the mankind has witnessed this for centuries.

Shafiq, Hasan, Kamal, Musqan- all are coming back. Beware!

Yours friendly,

A human.
