Jobs Don’t Come To India Now And That Will Leave Many Of Us Unemployed . Do You Know Why?

While the country is busy in participating in the intolerance debate, no one is interested in the threat that’s wandering around us! Isn’t that amazing that a country which produces almost 10 lakh people who enter the work force each month is more interested in solving the intolerable issues rather than the future of these workable individuals. Getting “Bangalored” which was a buzz word for the workers of the West is now losing its identity day by day.

OUTSOUCRCING STORY

It all started when Jack Welch started first captive offshore service centre in Gurgaon in 1997.  After the huge success of this company – General Electricals, a flood of outsourcing and off shoring bashed our country.  Gradually, more and more work was outsourced to India because of large percentage of engineering graduates and English Communication skills. The advent of INTERNET was another feather in the cap which made the work really easier and outsourcing to India rapidly rose exponentially, touching extremities.

ISSUES OF CONCERN

“Nothing is constant but change”. This is applicable to Outsourcing industry also. As the BPO industry started glorifying, more and more people diverted here, as a result of which different companies for the greed of work and profit lowered down their rates. Western companies were really happy that they would save more money and great profits!

This happiness was temporary because the quality of work presented started degrading and the end-customers were dissatisfied. Instead of profit, companies started facing losses. This made them redirect the work somewhere else.

Aftermaths of the above affected only a few. However, when the European Crisis and the American Housing Recession broke in, governments emphasised on “reshoring”. Companies showed resistance to this. But soon they sensed one another major rising problem.

  • This problem was nothing but increment in wages of the workers of East. Statically, many reports had made clear that Outsource labour turnover of East which was 80% less than those of West have now turned out to be 25%.

THE OUTSOUCRCING PROBLEM

India is proud of its service and IT sector. It is a sector which generates highest revenue but employees only 40% people (Statistics taken from a report published in: The Hindu). As the issue rose, slowly the companies started uprooting their work from India.

Some were disappointed by the quality of work while other was worried by the formulation of labour unions and laws.

We have lost companies like Coco-Cola who wrapped their work and went away because of stringent Labour and Land Laws of India.  Most of the work is being shifted to Philippines, just because of the fact that they don’t have such rigid laws.

A report publishes by The Economists says -“some of the biggest original pioneers of outsourcing, including General Electric and General Motors, have already taken the plunge and brought their IT work home.”

It’s been estimated that in about 10 years from now, India’s population would surpass China. We just have 10 years some people may think that 10 years is a really long way. But trust me it isn’t. When we talk about securing future of 126 million people (and still growing) it is a tougher job which is beyond our imaginations. Especially with this kind of attitude I really feel that chances of improvement are too rare! “An amendment in law would definitely work!”  This statement is very easy to say, but we all know how much time it takes. It’s really amazing the way present government has articulated scheme to instigate the entrepreneurship skills of the people. But we have a long journey to make!

I just wanted to emphasise on the fact that let us move our attention to the major problems like this, which involves the future if our country rather than entertaining ourselves from the communalism wars or sabotages which involve the back-pulling of those who at least try. Let’s just broaden our speculations and try to rise up from these irrelevant things and see the upcoming threats from the outer edges!

The more we work today in fighting problems like this…tomorrow we would be the ones who would enjoy its perks!
